BLACKPINK’s Rosé Dismisses Rumors of Jaden Smith Being Her Toxic Ex, “He’s a Good Friend”

Rosé (BLACKPINK) is making waves worldwide with her debut album “rosie”. Without needing Dispatch to expose her private life, the 1997-born star herself revealed that she had dated someone and used the heartbreak as inspiration for her music. Notably, Rosé mentioned that this relationship was extremely toxic, prompting fans to speculate about the identity of the ex-boyfriend who caused her so much pain.

Following the release of her music video “toxic till the end”, many netizens began suspecting Jaden Smith, the son of Hollywood actor Will Smith, as the rumored ex-boyfriend. First, the actor featured in the MV bears a striking resemblance to Jaden Smith, including his pink hair. Additionally, Jaden Smith has a close relationship with BLACKPINK and was even spotted hanging out privately with Rosé at Coachella 2019. He also mentioned Rosé’s name in his song “Your Voice”.

However, many fans have countered the theory that Jaden Smith is Rosé’s toxic ex. Jaden was reportedly dating model Sab Zada from 2020 to 2024, while Rosé primarily stayed in South Korea between 2020 and 2022, making a relationship between them unlikely. Furthermore, Jaden Smith was seen meeting and happily taking photos with BLACKPINK as recently as last year. If Jaden had been the toxic ex who hurt Rosé, it’s unlikely she would have been so willing to meet him again.

Now, Rosé herself has spoken up about the rumors of Jaden being her “toxic ex”. In particular, in a video titled “Rosé Takes a Lie Detector Test | Vanity Fair” published on January 17 (KST), Rosé was asked if “toxic till the end” was inspired by Jaden Smith, to which she shook her head and say “No”, adding, “He’s a good friend though”.

The female idol then greeted Jaden, saying “Hi” and “Miss you a lot”, showing that they have a good relationship.

Finally, when asked if she has ever dated Jaden Smith, Rosé firmly said no, and the lie detector confirmed she was telling the truth.

On the other hand, some fans previously speculated that Rosé’s alleged ex could be someone else – whom she reportedly followed on her former private Instagram account, @vampirehollie, during her “skateboarding phase” in 2022. This individual is Jason Choi, a skateboard instructor who has collaborated with various skate shops.

In the past, Choi shared a photo of a rose on his Instagram story, which fueled further rumors. As the speculation grew, Jason Choi’s social media accounts became inundated with toxic comments. Eventually, Choi addressed the situation in an Instagram story, denying the claims and clarifying that he is “not BLACKPINK Rosé’s ex,” but simply “a big fan.” He also expressed confusion over the rumors and urged netizens to stop leaving rude comments.
